What is the Scott Scholarships Sledge Pull?

  • A nationwide school teams event to celebrate the Centenary of Scott’s famous Antarctic Expedition.
  • A sledge pull from Land's End to John O'Groats to London to Cardiff in May 2011.
  • It is the official schools’ event of the Scott Centenary Celebrations.



 It will be a co-ordinated relay sledge pull in May 2011 for 5th and 6th form students.
-     One group will head northward from Land's End - John O'Groats, the other south from John O'Groats - Cambridge - London - Cardiff.  The total distance is around 2000 miles.
-     Approximately 100 schools and youth groups will be taking part, each doing 
      approximately 25 miles in legs of 5 miles.
-     5 students will run each leg, each pulling a lightweight wheeled sledge. 
-     The pace will be that of a slow jog (about 5 miles per hour).
-     Teams may also include teachers, parents, local celebrities or famous alumn
